Many sail boats and motor yachts have some sort of lifting gear to get the heavier items on board. Loading or off loading heavy dinghies from your vessel can be a real pain at times, especially in strong winds and rolling seas.
To fill your yachts empty 60 gallon plus tanks by having to physically lift many loaded jerry cans on board from your tender, can be very tiring. You will visit many special places where there are no docks or marinas and all the loading has to be done manually.
It’s never an easy lift for the person on deck who is trying to get these heavy items over the guard rail or life lines, especially if the conditions are hot and the boat is lurching about. This is often the job of the female sailor who does not have the physical strength required and can get injured.
